The Effect of Structural Parameters on the Electronic States and Oscillator Strength of a Resonant Tunneling Quantum Well Infrared Photodetector
In this paper a resonant tunnelling quantum well infrared photodetector (RT-QWIP) is discussed. Each period of this photodetector structure comprises of a resonant tunnelling structure (AlAs/AlGaAs/AlAs) nearby a quantum well (AlGaAs/GaAs). In this photodetector, photocurrent is produced when an electron makes a transition from the ground state of the well to an excited state which is coupled t...
متن کاملQuantum Well Infrared Photodetector Innovation Pathway
This case describes the development of quantum well infrared photodetectors (QWIPs). Following more than a decade of development, the QWIPs will fly aboard the Landsat Data Continuity Mission (LDCM) as part of the Thermal Infrared Sensor (TIRS). Over its history, Landsat data have enabled agricultural, forestry, air quality, and geological activity monitoring among other societal benefits. The ...

متن کاملTCAD Simulation of Multiple Quantum Well Infrared Photodetector (QWIP)
We demonstrate the capabilities of SILVACO TCAD tools for the design and simulation of intersubband GaAs/AlGaAs multiple quantum well infrared photodetectors. We compute the photoconductive gain spectrum of the device self consistently with the charge flow, non-radiative capture-escape, and intersubband transitions in the active region. The solid state calculations provide input to a light prop...
متن کاملGaAs/AIXGal.,As QUANTUM WELL INFRARED PHOTODETECTOR SNAP-SHOT CAMERA
A 9 ~m cutoff 640x486 snap-shot quantum well infrared photodetector (QWIP) camera has been demonstrated. The performance of this QWIP camera is reported including indoor and outdoor imaging. Excellent imagery, with a noise equivalent differential temperature (NEAT) of 36 mK has been achieved at 300 K background.
